Tiger kidnappings have become a serious threat to companies and banks in Europe in recent years. Usually employees or family members are abducted and forced to complete monetary transactions or withdrawals under duress. Especially banks and financial institutions have been impacted and high profile cases include Northern Bank in Ireland (2004), Securitas in UK (2006). To reduce the threat of tiger kidnappings, organisations should identify key personnel at risk and remove weaknesses in processes and procedures.
